Last Friday, Aldrich and I went to Rayuela in the Lower East Side for dinner. Rayuela is a freestyle latin restaurant that serves some very interesting and unique dishes. The paella came out looking unlike any I’ve ever seen, and the taste seemed to me to have an Asian, particularly Thai influence with the coconut milk flavor, but it was a refreshing surprise. Their rosada sangria, which had bits of strawberries in it, was goooood!
I’ve noticed that we unconsciously pick restaurants based on decor, and I’m beginning to see a trend in our choices. We typically like restaurants that have a natural, modern feel, characterized by a lot of wood and black steel. (Hey, I think I just rhymed!) Betel, a restaurant that serves Southeast Asian hawker-inspired food in the West Village, is a favorite of ours that has a similar kind of design. I love that place, also because the food there is more up my alley, having come from the Philippines and all. What can I say, the food there is amazing. I can still taste the crispy duck that we had.
Anyway, here is what I wore to our dinner date.
Top from Strawberry (Yes, surprisingly! You never know what goodies you can find in that store!), Pants from Zara, Booties by Steve Madden Luxe (I love the laser-cut details on this pair.)
